Message Good use of depth of field in the first photo - it's nice the way the sharply-focused car pops from the blurred background.

In case you didn't figure it out through experimenting, the smaller the f-stop/aperture number, the shallower the depth of field will be. If I can find some helpful graphics I know I put on my site, I'll post them for you.

Also, it's very hard to take good photos of dark subjects against a bright background, because there tends to be more of the background, so the camera sets the exposure for the brightness and your subject is stuck being too dark. You've done a pretty good job with that balance, but the Z could definitely use a little dodging - if you have Photoshop, I'll explain how to do that.
